Ten quick answers
Using RideStory
Open a question to read the answer.
1. What is RideStory?
RideStory records your routes using GPS and lets you relive them through animated replays enriched with photos, videos, voice notes, text and session information.
2. Which activities can I record?
You can choose car, motorcycle, bicycle or walking. Speedometers, summaries, fuel information and calorie estimates adapt automatically to the selected activity.
3. Does RideStory keep recording when the screen is off?
Yes. During an active session, the route can continue to be recorded in the background or while the screen is in standby, provided the necessary location permissions are enabled.
4. Can I add content during a route?
Yes. During an active session you can add photos, videos, voice notes, text and weather information. For your safety, do not add content while driving. Stop in a safe place before interacting with the app.
5. How do replays work?
A replay reconstructs your route on the map and plays each piece of content where it was recorded. Choose Ride, Story or Real mode and customise speed, map, effects, titles, music and other elements.
6. Can I share a replay as a video?
Yes. RideStory can record the replay and create a shareable video with the animations, content, audio and effects you configured.
7. Does RideStory calculate fuel use and calories?
For car and motorcycle sessions, RideStory estimates fuel consumption and cost using vehicle data. For walking and bicycle sessions, it estimates calories in real time using weight, speed, duration and elevation.
8. Can I export or import routes?
Yes. You can export complete sessions in RideStory format and routes in compatible formats such as GPX. Supported sessions and routes can also be imported for storage or review.
9. What are widgets and Live Activities for?
They provide quick access to speed, distance, duration, summaries, fuel information or calories. Some widgets include shortcuts to start a session, add a route section or hear your current location.
10. How does RideStory help protect the user while driving?
Above a certain speed, RideStory activates a protection screen designed to reduce distractions. Stop in a safe place before interacting with the app or adding content.
