The short version
- No user account is created.
- No name, email address or other personal details are required to use the app.
- No advertising or user-tracking analytics are used by RideStory.
- Routes, location points, photos, videos, voice notes and text remain on your device.
- RideStory does not receive or transmit your session data.
01 — On-device data
Data created by the app
When you use RideStory, the app can process GPS location, distance, speed, session time, route sections and the content you choose to add, including photos, videos, voice notes, text, weather information and saved location points. This processing happens on your device to provide tracking, replay, calculations and export features.
RideStory does not upload this information to RideStory servers. The data remains under your control on the device until you delete the relevant session, remove the app, restore or erase the device, or export a copy.
02 — Permissions
Access you control
Features may request iOS permissions such as location, photos, camera, microphone, motion or notifications. RideStory uses an enabled permission only to perform the feature you requested. You can review or revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Disabling a permission may prevent the related feature from working.
04 — Retention and deletion
You manage local storage
You can delete sessions and their content using the controls in the app. Removing RideStory deletes app data stored locally, subject to any device backup or exported copy that you control. Because RideStory does not hold app data on its servers, there is no RideStory cloud account or server-side session record to delete.
05 — Website support form
Separate from the RideStory app
The optional support form on this website asks for contact details and a message so we can reply. This information is provided voluntarily and is processed through FormSubmit, a third-party form delivery service. It is not connected to the RideStory app, a route or an app account.
Do not include route files, precise location, passwords, payment information or other unnecessary sensitive data. Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request and meet legal obligations.
06 — Children
No personal data collection
RideStory does not knowingly collect personal data from children or adults through the app. Parents and guardians should manage device permissions and sharing options appropriate to the user.
United Kingdom and EEA
Information for UK and European users
RideStory does not collect or control personal data generated inside the app. If you voluntarily submit the website support form, you may request access, correction or deletion of that support message through the same form. UK users may also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
07 — Changes and contact
Policy updates
We may update this policy if RideStory’s features or legal requirements change. The date at the top will identify the latest version. For privacy questions, use the protected RideStory support form and select “Privacy request”.
